Christmas & New Year Festivities at Ockenden Manor

Those who have already
sampled the delights of this country house hotel need
no introduction to its charms, but for others the pleasure
of Ockenden Manor, tucked on the edge of Cuckfield,
awaits them.
An ideal retreat, especially for those
with busy lives or if you are just in need of a few
days luxury. The emphasis here is on a peaceful relaxing
Christmas with a warmth of welcome and hospitality,
guaranteeing a happy and memorable holiday.
Christmas Eve - Monday
24th December
To set the mood for our Christmas house party a friendly
welcome awaits you on arrival with a traditional afternoon tea
in the Sitting Room in front of the crackling log fire.
Before dinner we will gather in the Sitting Room and Bar for a Champagne reception
where you will meet your hosts and fellow guests. During the reception our local
carol singers will serenade us. The set dinner this evening will be served in our oak
panelled restaurants with mixed tables for a real house party atmosphere.
After dinner you may like to attend Midnight Mass in Cuckfield's beautiful Norman
Holy Trinity Church, just a few minutes walk into the village. On your return,
mulled wine, warm mince pies and roasted chestnuts will be waiting in the Sitting
Room before you retire.
Christmas Day - Tuesday 25 December
This morning we will be serving a leisurely continental breakfast, including a fresh
fruit platter and freshly baked pastries. Room service will be available if you prefer.
While you open your presents in the comfort of your room, our Head Chef and his
team will be preparing a splendid six course traditional luncheon. From noon Champagne or Kir Royale will be served in our Sitting Room or oak panelled Bar
before you are shown to your table for Christmas Lunch.
Tea and home-made Christmas Cake will be served in the afternoon and you may
like to try your hand at a board game during the peace and quiet.
A delicious light buffet supper will be offered in the evening accompanied by a
festive repertoire performed by our local harpist. A fitting finale to end a special day.
Boxing Day - Wednesday 26th December
This morning a hearty champagne English breakfast will be served to set you up for
your day out.
Today is at your leisure, you may fancy a visit to the Blue Bell
Railway or Wakehurst Place, or if you are feeling energetic you
could try one of the local walks around Cuckfield. Upon your
return in the afternoon we will serve afternoon tea and
Christmas cake.
Lunch is not included today. If you wish to dine with us at Lunchtime a reservation is
essential.
Tonight we will be hosting a black tie gourmet dinner inclusive of wines in the
Ockenden Suite. The evening will begin with Champagne Cocktails in the Sitting
Room and the oak panelled Bar; you will then be seated at mixed tables and
entertained throughout the dinner by our magician.
Thursday 27th December
A time to bid a fond farewell unless you make the most of this long bank holiday with our outstanding rates.

Join us for a veritable 'tour de force' from the kitchen with a six
course tasting menu dinner leading up to midnight. Dinner will
be served in our restaurants whilst you are entertained by our resident pianist in our
Drawing Room from 8pm until 12.30am.
New Years Day
Tuesday 1st January 2008
Breakfast on New Year's Day can be taken in the restaurant or in your bedroom, as
you prefer, until 10.00am.
