Sunday 9th December - The Story of Bailiffscourt with Sally Orson-Jones

Sally Orson-Jones grew up at Bailiffscourt during the 1960s and 1970s. Join her to hear the story of this extraordinary place, and the tale of how her grandmother, Emmy Birer, created the first hotel here in the 1940s followed by a scrumptious afternoon tea.

Everyone who has visited Bailiffscourt in the heart of rural West Sussex has been enchanted by the beauty of the building and the air of tranquil timelessness that surrounds it - Sally's research and recently published book go right back to Bailiffscourt's first foundations just after the Norman conquest, through the period in the 1920s when the current extraordinary building was conceived and built by Lady Moyne and her inspired architect Amyas Phillips and beyond..

Meet at 3pm in our stunning 13th century chapel where Sally will deliver an insightful talk detailing the story of Bailiffscourt.

What's included?

  • Fascinating talk with Sally Orson-Jones at 3pm
  • A delicious Bailiffscourt Afternoon Tea
