We are delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Muddy Stilettos for Best Destination Pub in Sussex. And we'd like to say a huge thank you to all of you who voted for us, these are coveted awards for independent businesses across the country, and we are so proud of the team to have won this.

The Bar
You'll find an interesting choice of craft beers, fine ales, Sussex wine, locally inspired cocktails and pub classics.
Cosy corners, deep sofas and a fabulous pewter bar, perfect for a quick pint, delicious supper or a lively catch-up with friends.
Our double sided wood burner stove provides a perfect spot to curl up by, a welcoming place for families to play boardgames or read the papers, and a lovely spot for dogs to lay beside.
And we have live music in the bar every first and third Friday of the month from 7.30pm.
Dogs at The Black Horse
The Black Horse is a dog friendly pub where your four-legged friend is welcomed just as much as you are. Dogs can look forward to plenty of treats and cuddles.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Black Horse in both the Bar and the Ryebank.
For those of you wishing to stay, dogs are charged at a rate of £25 per night per dog (up to two dogs per room). Dogs stay in the room with you and are welcome everywhere. We simply ask that you are mindful of other guests when around the pub and that your dogs are kept on their leads in all public areas including the terraces outback and outfront.
Kids at The Black Horse
The Black Horse is a family friendly pub and we recognise that if your children are happy and relaxed then so are you. We will do our best to ensure your children are as well looked after as you are, please ask if there is anything in particular we can do to make this happen.
Children are very welcome in the bar and Ryebank where you can eat and relax as a family. Please ask for smaller portions if there is something they fancy on the main menu, or we have a kids menu.
And if you simply can't leave, West rooms can accommodate a cot for under 5 year, charged at a rate of £25 per night per child including bed & breakfast.
The Ryebank
Our stunning oak-beamed Ryebank is a lovely spot for a bite to eat. This glorious bright space looks out over the terrace and the local rife.
Our full flavour menus are inspired by the seasons, bursting with traditional pub favourites and local ingredients, specials include some delicious signature dishes such as our Spicy Guinness and Sussex Charmer soup and Climping beach fish pie.
The Pink Room
A fabulous space for private parties
The best memories are made around the table. The Pink Room is the perfect room for a cosy celebration, fun family lunch or noisy dinner party, for up to 10 guests.

We are happy to suggest menu options, from interesting buffets to delicious seasonal dishes. Or take over the entire Ryebank for a private celebration. We have the flexibility and enthusiasm to make every event a success.
